Warning Description: Areal Flood Advisory

Warning Date: 3:20 PM MST on July 2, 2009

WarningSum:

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a
* small stream flood advisory for...
  south central Maricopa County in south central Arizona...
  this includes the city of Gila Bend...
* until 615 PM MST.
* At 315 PM MST Doppler radar indicated storms over southwest
  Maricopa County south of Gila Bend had produced rainfall amounts
  of up to 2 inches since 2 PM. The heaviest rain occurred over the
  Sand Tank Mountains and will cause washes to run including the
  sauceda and midway. Expect water to flow toward Highway 85 and
  Gila Bend with water covering some unbridged roadways through 6 PM.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice...turn around...dont drown.
